We here at Moyvore have been extremely fortunate to have been successful in our application for the Creative Clusters initiative at the end of the last academic year. Work on the programme began in October and involves our collaboration with three other schools; Ballynacargy, Tang and Ardnagrath. The school will also receive funding of €3000 over a 2 year period to put towards this project. As a group we decided to focus on the theme of wellbeing for our Cluster.
To date the children have taken part in a Christmas decoration exchange with the other schools, the senior class have made an introductory video of our school, for pupils in our collaborating schools (see below) and they have taken a trip to the cinema with the students of Ballynacargy. Unfortunately due to weather conditions another fun-filled day in Athlone was cancelled but we hope to reschedule this in Term 3. The children have also been sharing their thoughts on wellbeing in our school through surveys and debates in class.
Creative Clusters is a child-led initiative that aims to demonstrate how the creative practices can support clusters of schools to work together to address common learning challenges over a two-year period. It aims to promote new ways of working and collaboration between schools and the arts and cultural sector. The Creative Clusters scheme provides schools with access to creative people, skills and resources and supports them to draw on their own skills and experiences and those within their wider communities.
