Exploring History and Heritage: A Memorable Trip to Dún na Sí!
We are delighted to share the wonderful experience our students had on their recent school-wide trip to Dún na Sí, a captivating heritage park located in Moate. This educational excursion, made possible through a Heritage Grant secured by Milltown GAA, provided our students with a unique opportunity to delve into Irish history, folklore, and culture.
On April 26th, our students embarked on a journey through time as they explored the rich heritage and enchanting surroundings of Dún na Sí. Guided by knowledgeable tour guides and accompanied by their peers from Emper National School, our students delved into the fascinating world of Irish history and folklore, with a particular focus on Irish life in the 1800s. From tales of ancient traditions to insights into daily life during this period, the children immersed themselves in a day filled with learning, adventure, and appreciation for our cultural heritage.
In addition to learning about history and folklore, our students engaged in an orienteering activity, putting their navigation skills to the test as they explored the park's scenic trails and hidden treasures.
We extend our thanks to the dedicated tour guides of Dún na sí as well as Milltown GAA for the opportunity to attend this fantastic tour. The children had an amazing day!
